William Riley was an earnest young man, in his early 30’s, yearning for a better life. It was the dawn of the 20th century, and lured by tales of riches and opportunity awaiting in America, he packed up his things, and immigrated to the United States from his homeland, England.
After arriving in Boston and settling in to his new home, he would go on to create what would become of one of the largest, independent, most successful and most beloved sneaker and athletic companies in the world. And this all stemmed from an observation he made about his chickens…
