One of the most iconic shoes today came about because of a mishap on a slippery deck, a cocker spaniel named Prince, and a man on a mission to find a simple solution to an age-old problem. 90 years ago, off the Long Island Sound, Paul Sperry slipped off of the deck of his schooner, the “Sirocco”, into the Atlantic. He was able to grab on to some rigging and save himself. What was initially a scary experience, would end up changing boat shoes and fashion forever. Frat bros rejoice!
